
Donna Lee on Piano![]() American pianist Donna Lee made her solo debut in 1990 with the National Symphony Orchestra after winning the Young Soloist Concerto Competition. Since then, she has appeared as soloist and chamber musician at venues such as Kennedy Center's Concert Hall and Terrace Theater in Washington, DC, Cleveland Museum of Art's Gartner Auditorium in Ohio, and Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall in New York. Internationally, she has performed in China and Italy, and has toured extensively throughout Sweden and Japan. She has been heard in many broadcast performances, including WQXR, NY; WCLV, Cleveland, OH; WGMS, Washington, DC; Swedish Radio; and Voice of America, Far East. She has recorded for the Proprius and Innova labels. The Scenes from Childhood program marks her solo recording debut on the Azica label. Donna Lee earned her degrees from Peabody Conservatory of The Johns Hopkins University (DMA), The Juilliard School (MM), and the University of Maryland, College Park (BM), where she studied with prominent artist-teachers Julian Martin, the late Rudolf Firkusny, and Thomas Schumacher, respectively. She has taught at Peabody Conservatory and Bucknell University. Presently, she is on the piano faculty at Kent State University where she is Assistant Professor of Music; during the summers, she teaches at Interlochen Arts Camp. |
